SocialSignIn helps pupils become the next ‘APPrentice’

University College Birmingham (UCB), in partnership with Birmingham City University and SocialSignIn, was delighted to host the ‘APPrentice’, a national event for pupils, demonstrating how Further and Higher Education opens doors to a range of exciting careers in social media and marketing.

Students watched presentations from social media industry leaders, including SocialSignIn, and took part in practical workshops before getting the chance to unleash their creativity.

Joanna Axinte, UCB’s Partnership Support Officer, said: “We wanted to bring the real business world into the classroom and highlight the important role that social media now plays. Students produced exciting ideas for apps, which they pitched at the end of the workshop. We were really happy with how it went and had some fantastic feedback. We invited our social media management partners, SocialSignIn, along to explain how social media is now central to business communications”

Darren Fiander, Commercial Director at SocialSignIn, used stories from his time working with big brands like Iceland Foods and National Express, to show students how social media could be harnessed to deliver significant business impact in marketing, public relations and customer service.

Speaking after the event Darren said: “Social media now plays a huge role in both our personal and professional lives, and organisations are now leveraging this power to deliver growth and strong customer experiences. By inspiring the next generation of social media experts, we can help shape a positive future for them, and the UK economy.”
